PANJIM: After the media exposed how people from Maharashtra and Karnataka have been entering the State through ‘unmanned’ internal roads, the government has decided to place such lockdown violators under paid quarantine for 14 days.

Herald on Wednesday reported how the vigil by police at the Pernem check post failed to prevent the entry of people from Maharashtra into Goa who are entering through other roads.
Also, the State Executive Committee noted the arrival of five persons from Karwar – three by sea with the help of fishermen and two walking along rail tracks – into the State. FIRs have been registered against all, and they have been put under quarantine.
Speaking to media persons, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said the government has come across cases, where people are using internal roads and sea route to enter the State in violation of lockdown guidelines. “Those who come to State forcefully, in violation, will be put under paid quarantine facility for 14 days and will be tested for coronavirus,” he said.
Further, Sawant said the government would be setting up two more COVID-19 testing facilities at Hospicio hospital and Chicalim hospital, soon. “We do not conduct any rapid test of COVID. All the tests are done through Pune laboratory and now in virology lab GMC,” he said.
