PANJIM: Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) chairman Glenn Ticlo on Sunday defended his statement made to the media.
“A section of the press has reported some comments attributed to me by my colleague MLA Rohan Khaunte. He has commented that I had made a statement to the effect that our CM Dr Pramod Sawant is not allowing me to function as GIDC chairman. My statement to the press is deliberately misread in this context. I had said that the government is not allowing the corporation, the space required for effective functioning. Not once did I refer to the CM except praise his dynamism,” he said in a press statement issued here.
He said, “On the contrary whatever has been achieved in the past one year is because of the Chief Minister’s absolute faith in me and the corporation. His resolve and support is allowing existing and new industries to thrive in Goa. Commscope (Andrew Telecommunications) is expanding its operations in Goa, India’s first Maritime Cluster (Konkan Maritime Cluster) is being set up in Goa with 50-odd Goan entrepreneurs as its stakeholders. GIDC under my chairmanship has issued them plot allotment within a couple of days to encourage such enterprises and create jobs for the locals.”
Ticlo reiterated that his government resolves to bring in clean and job creating industries for the local populates.
“My statement should be taken and read in the right spirit and inferences should not be drawn to defame either Chief Minister or the Government. MLA Rohan Khaunte had been the Minister in our government and I firmly believe that he shall create positive investment environment with his statements in the future setting aside his political differences,” he added.
