‘Young at Art’ and ‘A Brush with Art’ are
two workshops that will commence from July 1, 2014 onwards at the Blue Lemon,
Colva. While ‘Young at Art’ is a comprehensive art programme for youngsters
which will be held every Sunday, ‘A Brush with Art’ is a painting workshop to
be held on weekdays for adults. Both the art classes will be conducted by
artist and art instructor Rudi D’Silva.
There are very few art classes being held
in South Goa and that too, for a short term. ‘Young at Art’ is aimed at people
above 16 years and will be held in two batches throughout the year. “Teenagers
can’t learn about art within a short period. This is a comprehensive drawing
and painting workshop where I will teach them about different mediums starting
from pencils to watercolours to acrylics. I want it to be a fun workshop where
the teenagers are not pressured into getting into any art college but are
trying it for their learning pleasure,” says Rudi about the two-hour workshop.
As these classes will be held every Sunday, youngsters will have enough time to
practise and come back with queries.
Rudi, a full time artist, loves art and
when not busy drawing or painting, he likes to share his passion with others.
He feels art and its application in our daily life are things that are most
underestimated and empowering youngsters with it is his goal. Be also believes
that to know art does not mean one has to become an artist.
Weekdays are dedicated to ‘A Brush with
Art’ workshops from 9am to 10.30am where he teaches painting to adults in
different media. His works displayed at Blue Lemon also give a better
understanding of what he is teaching. “Teaching art is one thing where you have
to walk the talk, and giving demos is what I love to do.”
