PANJIM: A polio immunization drops will be given to children below five years of age on Sunday, February 27, as part of the National Immunisation Programme.
According to State Immunisation Officer Dr Rajendra Borkar, the programme will be held at 667 centres across Goa and the State government has set a target of immunising nearly 1,05,083. All children below five years of age will be given two drops of polio vaccine and government wants to achieve 100 per cent vaccination of doses.
Dr Borkar said that the last case of polio in the country was reported at Howrah, Kolkata in 2011 and India was declared polio free in 2014 after no cases were reported.
