Narvekar urges CS to direct GU on sports policy

PANJIM (HR):?Chairman of Ad-Hoc Committee on Education, Sports and Information Technology Dayanand Narvekar has urged Chief Secretary Sanjay Srivastava to direct Goa University to implement the sports policy in colleges from June 15, 2010.
In a letter to the CS, Narvekar said in-charge of colleges including management were pressurising students for compulsory attendance that has created problems for players taking admissions in colleges and professional institutions.
The Chairman had said he was in receipt of a complaint stating GU had not adopted the sports policy and no students had been awarded sports merit marks. He mentioned the GU should have implemented the policy this year along with other institutes as per assurance given by the Government.
