Margao: Yellow-Black taxi owners, rickshaw owners and motorcycle pilots operating from the Konkan Railway Station have urged the government to negotiate their demands with the banks to waive off the loan interest during the lockdown period.
The yellow black taxi owners complained of facing closure of business due to the lockdown on account of the COVID19 pandemic.
The motorcycle pilots said their business is completely closed due to lockdown.
Abdul Majeed Khan, member of the Motorcycle Pilots’ Association said they have no business at all for last 1-and-half months. Schools are going to start soon and they have to make arrangements for uniforms, books and fees of their children.
Abdul said, “Business closure has been cruel to us and we need help from the government to negotiate the financial losses”.
Orlando Crasto of the Kranti Autorickshaw Association said, “We are off road due to the lockdown. Soon our passing will be due and we will have to pay at least Rs 25,000 for the process. We have borrowed loans and want the government to negotiate our demands with banks to waive off the interests during the lockdown period”.
