PONDA: A 32-year-old man from Alto Dabolim is feared drowned in the Kodar river near the Vaidya farm on Saturday.
According to Ponda PI C L Patil, the incident took place at 2.30 pm when Steven Jose and 17 other colleagues from a company at Verna had gone for a picnic at Kodar.
While they were playing with some rings and one of them fell into the river. Steven tried to retrieve the ring from the river and disappeared into the river moments later.
The police was alerted of the incident and despite prolonged efforts, Steven could not be traced.
It could not be ascertained if Steven could swim or whether he slipped and was carried away by the swift current.
