According to the electricity department, consumers can either register their mobile numbers or emails IDs via the official department web portal, customer care (1912), by visiting the respective sub-divisional office or through the meter reader while delivering the monthly bills.
“The general public is hereby informed that, the department has taken the initiative to move towards digitisation to facilitate consumers in term of alert for power outage, bill generation notification, payment update and website/app based services,” reads the notice issued by the Electricity Department, Chief Electrical Engineer (CEC).
Meanwhile, speaking to Herald, CEC Nilkanth Reddy said, “This is under the initiative of Urban Jyoti Abhiyan (URJA) through which we want to link all the consumers for better service. There is no last day as such for updating the consumers’ mobile number or emails and also it is not compulsory.”
