PONDA: In what could be termed as a major political development, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai shared the dais with PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar at a two-day youth festival ‘Daiz’ (Heritage) at the Kavlem panchayat ground on Saturday.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Sardesai asked the MGP to break its alliance with the BJP, which he said had betrayed Goans on several issues. He said that by leaving the alliance, the MGP should think of protecting the interest of Goans as it had once ruled Goa. He added that the BJP was now recognised by Goans as a party that worked for capitalists.
He further said that the BJP had declassified the status of the coconut tree to favour a beer manufacturing unit and added, “Its policies are against the common man, and therefore, the MGP should not remain in an alliance.”
He also said that Goa could be divided on several social and cultural grounds, but should remain united to save the coconut tree.
Meanwhile, PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar appealed to the youth to preserve the cultural identity of Goa.
