Panjim: On Thursday, in some starling comments the Police Commissioner of Hyderabad told the local press that post their arrests of some kingpins of the drug lobby in Hyderabad, they were running against a wall, in making more arrests due to the non-cooperation of the Goa police.
On Friday speaking to Herald on phone from Hyderabad, Police Commissioner C V Anand made some startling revelations about how the biggest players in India’s drug business have shifted base to Goa because of the sheer quantum of drugs that are in Goa and the bulk of trade that is controlled from Goa and supplied to other parts of the country including Telangana.

Commissioner Anand, shockingly said, for the first time, that the Dark Web is used for drug transactions by Goa-based narco kingpins. It’s an entire underground online network where illegal activity happens.
The “dark web” is a part of the World Wide Web that requires special software to access. The trade is done in crypto markets which are marketplaces on the dark web that use cryptocurrency and connect buyers and vendors for the sale of illicit goods and services, mainly weapons and drugs.
“Some of the biggest drug dealers and traders in India have shifted base to Goa because of the sheer quantum of drugs there,” said Commissioner Anand.
“We arrested about six of them in Hyderabad after careful planning and execution (during their trips to Hyderabad to affect supplies),” he added.
He revealed that one Narendra Arya had moved from Haryana to Goa and transferred his business there. Arya is in the custody of Commissioner Anand’s team along with other alleged Goa-based drug kingpins Hafeez Ramlan, Navneet Anup, Pritesh Narayan Borkar, and one Nigerian named Nicholas.
The reason why the Hyderabad Police has upped the ante is that many of the Goa kingpins are operating in Hyderabad. “Our Chief Minister (K Chandrashekar Rao) has directed us that not a gram of illicit drugs should be found in the state,” Anand said.
