The 9th Goa
State Film Festival 2018 was
inaugurated by Sudin Dhawalikar, Minister of PWD and Transport, and Adv
Narendra Sawaikar, Member of Parliament, South Goa on May 3, 2018 at Inox
Screen 1, in the presence of Daulat Hawaldar, Secretary, Department of Art and
Culture, Government of Goa; Sidharth Kuncalienkar, Chairman EDC; Rajendra
Talak, Vice Chairman, ESG; Ameya Abhyankar (IAS), CEO,ESG and all the 12
producers of the films that will be screened during the film festival. Several
leading cinema personalities from all over Goa were also present for the
inauguration.
Ten feature films, namely ‘K Sera Sera’,
‘Connection’, ‘Mahaprayan’, ‘Mogaan’, ‘Big Ban’, ‘War Onn’, ‘Disha’, ‘Soul
Curry’, ‘Mogan Tujea’ and ‘Martin’ and two non-feature films – ‘Plastic Dhoti’
and ‘Aaba Aiktaay Na?’ – will be screened during the festival at Maquinez
Palace, auditorium 1 and 2.
The
Festival will showcase stellar improvements in film making in terms of
productions, values, stories, cinematography and other aspects. This film
festival will also ensure a confluence and synergy of creative energies. It
will also create an evolution in Goan cinema and give an opportunity to promise
a great future to budding Goan film makers.
‘K Sera Sera’ was screened as the
Opening Film of the Festival.
The festival
concludes on Sunday, May 6, 2018, with the felicitation of Goa-based
cinematographer Suryakant Lavande, who will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement
Award. The Festival’s award ceremony and various performances will also be held
on that day.
