PANJIM: The State government is contemplating other means to ensure resumption of mining after the Centre turned down the plea for an ordinance to resume the stalled activity.
It is learnt that e-auctioning of ore lying on the jetties might resume as the matter was discussed between Chief Minister Parrikar, Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma and Mines Secretary Daulat Hawalkar with stakeholders at CM’s residence.
The government also plans to e-auction around 8 million tonnes fresh extracted ore, which was extracted before March 2018 and for this it might approach Supreme Court to lift the ore dumped outside the lease areas.
Goa Foundation had recently stated that government should begin the process of auction of balance 10 million tonnes ore lying within the lease.
