Justice Rebello appointed CJ

Justice Ferdinho I Rebello of the Bombay High Court has been appointed as Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court.
After a successful career at the bar, he was elevated to the bench of Bombay High Court in the 1990s.
He was well-known for pro-active role on socio-political issues as a lawyer. He was also elected as an MLA. and later contested parliamentary elections.
He will be sworn-in as chief justice of Allahabad High Court shortly.
Justice Rebello who hails from Cuncolim, will be the second Goan to be appointed as chief justice of a high court.
Earlier, Justice G D Kamat was the chief justice of Gujarat High Court.
