VASCO: The recurring problem of overflowing sewage water from chambers has angered the residents of Mangor hill in Vasco.
Accusing the sewage department officials of deliberately neglecting to stop the overflowing sewage as a punishment for voting in favour of the opposition party candidate in the last municipal elections, the residents have demanded action against the officials concerned.
According to a resident, the Mangor hill locals have been frequently visiting the PWD sewage department office at Baina, requesting the officials to rectify the overflowing of sewage.
“However, due to some hidden agenda to harass us, the officials are not turning up to rectify the problem. And today our narrow lanes have been flooded with sewage water which poses health risks to the lives of hundreds of people living in Mangor hill,” he said.
The residents allege that since the time new council was formed, they have been facing some or the other issues. “From road side garbage menace to failure of door to door garbage scheme, the people living in ward number 13 have been facing only neglect from civic body,” said another resident.
The residents have demanded that the Public Works Department Minister Sudin Dhavalikar should take sou moto cognizance of their hardships and should direct the officials concerned to provide relief from the growing sewerage menace.
