“According to Niti Ayog Report of sex ration at birth, in seventeen out of twenty-one large states of our country, shows that there are more boys and fewer girls.
The main cause for the decline in the Child Sex Ratio is because people approach doctors who provide ‘sex selection’ service and offers to abort girls; despite laws to prevent female foeticide and schemes to encourage families to have girl child; the pre-natal sex identification and selective abortion continues as reflected in the declining sex ratio. The girl child still remains unwanted in several households.
It is all because our lives are woven from the patterns of our thoughts and beliefs; although, socially taught beliefs are frequently unreliable as they are acquired through ignorant teaching. People believe that birth of a boy is an asset that holds the family tree — lineage, and they will provide support in old age; whereas the birth of a daughter is considered as liability with the continued practice of dowry, in this dowry dominated world. Therefore, we have to change our attitude.
Women themselves are the cause of many problems. Hasn’t she tempted Adam to eat the forbidden fruit which made God curse the ground and say to Adam: ‘By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food, until you return to the ground? Women kill their own species in the embryonic stage? Isn’t she breaking the fifth commandment of God? That is — ‘Thou shall not kill’!
The consequences of the declining sex ratio are serious, all-embracing and far-reaching. Yes, the decline in sex ratio is a matter of terrible worry for it can have great effect — Atlantean, Herculean, and cyclopean; on the delicate equilibrium of nature.
Fewer girls in society will result in increased violence against women and lead to sex-related crimes like rape, kidnapping, prostitution, men remaining unmarried, having more than one husband and so on. It is said, if one throws a pebble into a placid pond and the disturbance created spreads in ever-widening circles until they reach the very edge of the pond it is called ‘The Ripple Effect’. Similarly, the ‘sex selection’ and ‘illegal abortion’ of a girl will have the ‘ripple effect’. If females are nipped in the foetal bud and the ripple effect engulfs the world, females will be totally wiped off from the face of the earth; as a fallen leaf can never be placed on the branch where it was born. The immediate effect of foeticide would be only old men sitting or roaming and reliving the past memories on this earth; and the final effect will be that even they (men) also will be pressed out from this earth as there would be no procreation.
“Today man is trying to become God, with contraception, genetic engineering, abortion, stem cells from human embryos and euthanasia. God’s equilibrium should not be changed or tempered with. A healthy male-female ratio is a social need. A woman, without her man, is nothing. So also, a man is nothing without his woman. In order, to stop the crime of female unborn child we should imprison those doctors and radiologists who conduct, or solicit parents to find the sex of the unborn child.”We should save the female unborn child.
