Access to Calangute temple opened

After a long 22 years struggle, the Pradkshina access to the Shree Shantadurga Temple materialised at Calangute on Tuesday.
The Pradkshina access for Shree Shantadurga Temple was finally thrown open for devotees by Calangute Sarpanch Alex Fernandes and proprietor of Calangute Inn Sanjay Khanna in the presence of former Calangute sarpanchas Joseph Sequeira, Laxman Porob and Albert Fernandes, former deputy sarpanchas Ana Maria D’Souza and Rupa Chodankar, Shree Shantadurga Saunsthan President Panduranj Matkar, Attorney Arjun Appa Shirodker, Saligao ZP member Michael Lobo, committee members, devotees and others.
The 22-year old dream of the devotees of Shree Shantadurga Temple became a reality with the inaugural function. The process was started on the Dussehra day.
Addressing the gathering, Arjun Appa Shirodker expressed fond gratitude to the panchayat members led by Joseph Sequeira, Laxman Porob, Ana Marie D’Souza and Rupa Chodankar and proprietor Sanjay Khanna for being generous in his contribution towards the temple by providing access through his property.
Shirodker also thanked former sarpanch Joseph Sequeira for being instrumental in achieving the near impossible thing through his good offices.
Calangute Sarpanch Alex Fernandes thanked the committee members of Shree Shantadurga Temple for giving him an opportunity to inaugurate the Palki access.
He also congratulated the members for achieving success in their endeavour after a glorious wait of over 22 years.
Earlier, the guests and other dignitaries were accorded a warm welcome by committee members. Siddesh Shirodker compered the function, while Arjun Shirodker proposed the vote of thanks.
