CUNCOLIM: “Goa Forward will fight till the end to save our rivers which government plans to sell to outsiders in the name of Nationalisation of Rivers,” party mentor and Fatorda MLA Vijay Sardesai said addressing a protest rally organised by at Assolna on the bank of River Sal.
Goa Forward President Prabhakar Timble, Margao municipal Chairperson Babita Angle, Velim Candidate Anthony Rodrigues, Mohandas Lolienkar and other leaders were present on the dais.
“It’s a last attempt of BJP government to sell Goa to outsiders. Velim MLA Benjamin was with us in the beginning, but now he has joined the government. Velim MLA is a part of BJP government and Goa Forward will defeat Benjamin,” Vijai said.
Vijai said that Goa Forward is not a spare wheel of any party and ruled out merger with other parties.
He appealed to people to come forward to fight against injustice. “We are not against progress, but in the name of development, Central government wants to take custody of our rivers. Government’s next plan will be to put casinos in these rivers,” Vijai alleged.
“If River Sal is nationalised, the identity of our villages will be ruined,” Vijai said and accused the government of bringing in projects against the wishes of Goans. He criticised AAP and other parties for not taking up issues concerning Goa.
Terming poll survey as fake, Vijai appealed to people not to believe the surveys done by non-Goans. “AAP is trying to repeat lies to make them sound like truth,” Vijai alleged.
Velim Candidate Anthony Rodrigues said nationalisation would affect the traditional fishermen. Anthony termed as rumours reports that he is planning to withdraw his candidature.
