PANJIM: Police Inspector Devendra Gad has succeeded in evading punitive action from the State Police Complaints Authority after owning up to his mistake for not registering First Information Report in a cognizable offence against the Chief Officer of Sanguem Municipal Council in 2013. The SPCA has let him off by only recommending that the government should issue him a written warning and provide him an opportunity to reform himself and that no entry was necessary to be made in his service record in t his regard.
The case pertains to felling of cashew trees and encroaching into property of Curchorem resident Ulhas Salelkar in April 2013. After Gad, the then station in-charge failed to register and investigate the case, his son Ajinkya approached the Authority accusing Gad of not taking action on his father’s complaint against the Chief Officer of Sanguem Municipal Council.
