PANJIM: In view of the recent problems the Panjim Market has failed after the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) defaulted on its payments to the power department, the civic body has treated the matter as priority.
In this regard, CCP called for a meeting with the Panjim market tenant association to sign an agreement regarding clearing their past dues and to also discuss the current market rates.
CCP has handed over the prepared draft to the association and asked it to take a decision on it and within 15 days. This includes the lease and licence agreement, which has been approved by the government of Goa. In CCPs agreement, rates will be considered on the basis of floors and the past periods.
The association asked for two years to clear the dues but CCP denied the same while they were open to it being paid via installments.
“The association will take their decision in their general body meeting and have asked for 15 days to decide,” said Panjim Mayor Uday Madkaikar.
