BICHOLIM: The foundation stone/plaque for the construction of new “Modern fire station” at Bicholim was laid by Speaker Dr Pramod Sawant, recently.
The function was attended by Bicholim MLA Rajesh Patnekar, GSIDC Chairman Deepak Pauskar, Mayem MLA Pravin Zantye, BMC Chairperson Rajaram Gaonkar, Bicholim BJP block President Vallabh Salkar, fire and emergency services director Ashok Menon and Bicholim Mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Sawant said that the State government is likely to provide 2500 jobs to people in different departments including fire and police.
He said that despite of his illness, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has given a special priority to Bicholim taluka regarding all round development.
“After Curchorem fire station which ranks first in India, it will be Bicholim fire station ranking second,” Dr Sawant added.
“Department of Fire and Emergency Services is likely to start skilled course in Panjim which will help firemen to train common man to avoid casualties and disasters,” Dr Sawant informed.
Director Ashok Menon lauded Parrikar by terming him as the visionary of this dream project.
