“We may have been mocked and suffered a huge jolt after the closure of Sunaparant and also for many of our events for betterment of the Konkani language. But I proudly say that Herald Group has finalised the beginning of a new Konkani daily newspaper and it will start rolling out by November 1 hopefully,” Acharya said.
KBM, which has been working for the Konkani language for many decades had the head of the Salgaocar Group, Ajit Gude, as chief guest at the function. “The secret of saving the language and nurturing it lies in having more and more literature in Konkani and promoting more people to write in the language,” Gude said.
Literary awards were presented to several veterans and new Konkani writers and also to various journalists for their work in the field of literature.
KBM also felicitated toppers in Konkani at SSCE, HSSCE and Goa University graduation and post-graduate level examinations.
