MARGAO: Calling the seafarers the ambassadors of Goa overseas, Union Ayush Minister Shripad Naik on Wednesday assured them that he would pursue with the Central Ministry to further reduce the ban on Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC).
He was speaking at the Blood Donation Camp held at the Goan Seamen Association of India (GSAI) office to commemorate the Association’s 10th anniversary.

Naik said, “If the seafarers did not find employment beyond Goa, there would have been major problems in Goa as far as employment. I wish the halt in employment will end soon and the seafarers will get back their employment”.
GFP president Vijai Sardesai said, “The seafarers are truly the ambassadors of Goa, who take Goenkarponn to the world. Our seafarers should get first preference in Goa as they are raising their families by working hard overseas. The Goa government degraded the seafarers of Goa by creating a fear that they will get COVID-19 from overseas”.
“The time when the seafarers wanted the help the government dejected them. That is why there is a need to have a single association to take up the issues of the seafarers and get a resolution,” he added.
GSAI president Frank Viegas said, “This was an effort to give back to humanity in times of need. This was an exemplary effort by the members of GSAI and some of whom were felicitated for their help and support towards the association.”
