PERNEM: Pernem Police have arrested one Shibu Manik Mandal (31), native of West Bengal and presently residing near football ground, Vagator for allegedly stealing a scooter.
According to Pernem Police Station Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi, the incident came to light on June 9, when at 17.40 hours, an accident occurred near St Anthony Bakery, Arambol, between a foreigner lady and a rider of Honda Dio scooter.

The scooter rider dashed to a pedestrian foreigner and fled from the spot leaving his bike at the accident spot. The locals immediately informed the police and acting on the matter, under guidance of PI Dalvi, a team was formed to catch the alleged accused person. Since, it was learnt that the scooter rider had also sustained injuries the police had maintained watch at the nearest health centre.
On Friday, the alleged accused visited the District Hospital, Mapusa where the police managed to catch hold of him.
During interrogation, the alleged accused confessed that he had committed a theft of Dio scooter in Chapora.
The Police have placed him under arrest under Section 41-A.
