Villagers expressed their anguish that late Dr Sequiera has not been recognised till date for his efforts to safeguard Goan identity. Villagers also lamented that an earlier resolution taken in this respect was not honoured by the government. The gram sabha was also informed that the golden jubilee fund had been spent for the village panchayat hall. Gram sabha resolved that all mega projects coming up in Orlim village be reviewed. There was also a debate over land acquired for roads with a resolution taken that proper demarcation be carried by the concern authorities. Villagers alleged that the PWD demarcation was not as per land acquired. Further the gram sabha strongly objected to the government’s move to hold the panchayat election on party lines. Discussion was also held on encroachment on playground with the gram sabha members suggesting that help of former sarpanch Fredrick Cardozo should be taken to identify the problem.

MARGAO: The Orlim gram sabha held under the chairmanship of sarpanch Luis S Gaundencio unanimously resolved that the State should install a statue of Father of Opinion Poll, Dr Jack Sequeira at a prominent place in south Goa.
