Consequent to the reduction in the price of LPG in the international market and continuing downward trend of crude, HPCL has reduced the cost of Commercial LPG cylinders.
The revised Retail Selling Price of 19 Kg commercial cylinder is Rs 737.48 with effect from January 1, 2009 compared to the Retail Selling Price of Rs 1221.51 during November 2008.
In view of this huge reduction of nearly 40% within a period of two months, the price difference between 19 kg commercial cylinders and 14.2 kg domestic cylinders has come down considerably. This price reduction should discourage customers using domestic unauthorized cylinders.
M Vasanta Rao, Senior Regional Manager of Goa LPG Region has advised all the customers to start using commercial cylinders only in their hotels/restaurants and cautioned that the raids will continue along with Civil Supplies Authorities to control misuse of domestic cylinders.
Mr Rao has also added that the use of LPG in industrial units also has become economical now in view of this reduction. The conversion from conventional fuels to LPG will also help reduce air pollution as LPG is a more cleaner, safer and environment friendly fuel and minimises the maintenance costs. HPCL has already converted some of the industries in Goa like Monginis Bakery, Andrew Telecommunications, ACGL, Power Engineering etc, who are enjoying the benefits of LPG conversion. It is also informed that HPCL Goa Region at Kundaim can provide technical support to any other industry who intends to go for LPG conversion to protect the Green Goa Environment.
