NEW DELHI: The BJP government in Manipur issued an order on September 15, setting up a panel headed by its education minister to approve or disapprove the publication of any book in the State.
The 14-member panel was set up by the Manipur governor “to ensure that books on the history, culture, tradition and geography of the State are published with accurate information.”
The order says the panel has been set up since “it has come to the knowledge of the State Government that some books published on the history, culture, tradition and geography of the State contain material which may either distort facts or disturb the peaceful co-existence among the various communities in the State or both.
