MAYEM: Villagers from Kankumbi and Sri Mauli Devasthan Pratishthan President Baban Dalvi confronted the contractor over the damage to the temple in the village.
It may be recalled that a three-member committee of superintending engineers representing Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka on Thursday inspected the Kalsa canal work site in Kankumbi and discussed the work to be taken up at the site.
Sources informed that when the contractor, Anilkumar, arrived at the spot while the three-member panel were at the site, the villagers led by Sri Mauli Devasthan Pratishthan President Baban Dalvi confronted him for the damage to the Mauli Devasthan premises.
The aggrieved residents later went to the rest house at Kankumbi and met executive engineer Narasinha Annavar and briefed him on the existing situation of Mauli temple premises and demanded repair work as early as possible.
Ashok Vasanad, the WRD chief engineer from Karnataka, told the delegation that the Karnataka Nirawari Nigam (KNN) would hold discussions with the people on May 11 in this regard.
