The rains are on in full swing and the high humidity, getting wet constantly in rains, germs and
viruses in the surrounding can make us fall sick again and again. Here are some
tips that will help you improve your immunity and protect yourself from the
harmful effects of rains.
Protect your immunity by consuming ajwain water twice a day. All
you need to do is take one teaspoon of ajwain in 300ml water, boil and strain. Small
children below the age of 8 can have one cup per day. To improve its taste and
palatability, add organic honey for them.
Milk is one of the best source of
protein and calcium but during monsoons try to avoid milk. You can go for nut
milk like almond milk or cashew milk. For adults if you are a tea lover you can
go in for herb teas or floral teas.
If you want to take a break from fresh
vegetables and yet maintain a good nutrition balance, make a soup with
kalachana. Soak kalachanas overnight in appropriate amount of water. Next day,
pressure cook it and separate the water. In a pan, add homemade ghee or butter,
a pinch of organic turmeric, jeera, black pepper and then kalachana water, boil
for few minutes and the soup is ready. Consume it warm.
Monsoon is the time when we all feel
like having something fried, something that is easily accessible, full of
flavours and the best solution for that is street food. Having street food
during rains can be unhygienic and can lead to bacterial or viral entry into
our system very easily. Try to avoid it and always go for home cooked food.
Always drink water that has been
boiled before. It ensures that all the pathogens present in the water are
killed and the water is safe to drink.
Staying personally hygiene during rains is also
important. After reaching home, have a proper bath, washing your hands, feet
and nails thoroughly to remove all mud and dirt.
