PANJIM: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has urged the national and local political parties in Goa to join hands and raise their voice demanding thorough investigation into the assault of MLA Vishnu Wagh, who according to them has been the target for BJP’s immoral politics.
In a counter attack to the allegation of BJP’s women’s wing, NCP president Nilkant Halarankar on Tuesday said that entire episode is a cold-blooded conspiracy of BJP to murder democracy and murder of its own legislator.
“The women’s wing by stating that the assault on Wagh was fallout of people’s frustration and anger over his repeated charges against government has proved that the attack was by BJP workers,” he said.
NCP spokesman Trajano D’Mello said that there is need that all political parties, keeping aside their political affiliations, should join hands to put pressure on the government to nab the culprits behind the assault at the earliest. “This was a complete trap led by BJP. All the leaders from top to bottom are masterminds of this attack,” he alleged.
Around 100-odd people manhandled Wagh on December 19 night, while returning from a cultural programme organized by Halarankar at Revora. So far, Mapusa police have arrested just one person of the 70 odd mob, in connection with the assault.
