VASCO: The Vasco police on Tuesday detained around 100 persons, mostly migrant workers, from Khareawado jetty for not filing their tenant verification forms.

According to Vasco PI Kapil Nayak, the police intensified their drive ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Goa on Sunday and the starting of the tourism season.
He reiterated that tenant verification is the need of the hour and it helps to great extent to detect crimes especially when it is committed by migrants working in the State.
PI Nayak said that though the tenant verification drive is on in his jurisdiction, the police on Tuesday conducted a special drive at Khareawado jetty following information that many migrant workers working on fishing trawlers had not filed tenant verification form. These workers hailed from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, he said adding that as many as 100 workers were detained for enquiry.
PI Nayak has appealed to those renting out their rooms to submit duly filled tenant verification forms as it is in the best interest of all the people and police as well.
