PANJIM: Retired judge of the Bombay High Court, Justice Ambadas Joshi, will take oath as Goa’s new Lokayukta on Friday. The State government, last month, finalised his name to the post that has been lying vacant for over seven months after the retirement of Justice (retd) P K Misra on September 17, 2020.
The swearing in will be held at 11am at Raj Bhawan.

Justice Joshi has also served as the chairman of the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal, Mumbai from July 2014 to July 2019.
In January this year, the Goa government had amended the Goa Lokayukta Act, which the opposition charged was done to make the institution a powerless chair.
Misra was appointed to the post on April 24, 2016, nearly two-and-half years after Goa’s first Lokayukta – appointed on March 8, 2013 – submitted his resignation to the government in September 2013. The then Governor accepted the resignation in the following month, October.
