Chowgule cannot retrench its Costi plant workers: Minister

SANGUEM: “Chowgule mining company cannot retrench the workers employed at its plant in Costi Kalay and if it does the government will have to do something,” said TCP Minister Vijay Sardessai.

SANGUEM: “Chowgule mining company cannot retrench the workers employed at its plant in Costi Kalay and if it does the government will have to do something,” said TCP Minister Vijay Sardessai. 
“The company has to continue with the employment to its workers,” claimed Sardessai speaking to the villagers during his visit to Kalay on Saturday.
Sardessai also informed the mining dependent people that the government was behind the mining dependents and would rally behind them till the mining issue stands resolved. 
“It is unfortunate that the mining activities in the State have come to a standstill. But we have to follow certain rules and regulations as envisaged by the Apex Court,” Sardessai said.
On the agriculture farm at Kalay, Sardessai informed that the farm would soon see a major change. “The vacant and undeveloped areas in the farm will be brought under floriculture,” he said. 
“With the major source of income shut down, people from Sanvordem and Kalay will have to venture into agriculture,” he added.
Sardessai was however critical of some people opposing every development works proposed by the government.
On the occasion, Fisheries Minister Vinod Palyekar assured the mining dependents of government support. He also assured the villagers of Kalay of solving all their drinking water needs in the immediate near future.
RS MP Vinay Tendulkar informed the villagers of their demands for railway over bridge would be solved soon.
