VASCO: The Market complex cum community hall project at Headland Sada, a project most awaited project by the residents, has hit the roadblock due to non-payment of the transfer fee.
The work on the project began in 2016 and was expected to be completed in 2018.
“To my knowledge, almost all the works on the project has been completed. I may inspect the premise, soon, to know about its progress,” MMC Chairperson Nandadeep Raut said.
When asked why the project was still not operational, Raut revealed that the project is being constructed by the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA), which has to pay transfer fee of Rs 22,000 to the Mormugao Planning and Development Authority (MPDA). Once that is done, he said, the project would be transferred to Mormugao Municipal Council. “As per my knowledge, the payment of transfer fee is pending,” Raut said.
Recalling that the Vaddem Lake beautification project also faced the same problem, he said, in that case, the Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho paid the transfer fee and got the beautified Vaddem Lake open for the public.
As per the official website of GSUDA, the expenditure incurred on this project is Rs 2,30,85,304.
As per the sources, this project will house vegetable vendors, fish vendors, hawkers, and other miscellaneous outlets. The infrastructure will also house gymnasium, a community hall and the well placed shops in this multi-storey building.
