CALANGUTE : St. Anthony’s Sport Club, Assolda trounced Saligao United 4-1 in the inaugural match of the 4th All Goa 9-a-side Reis Magos Panchayat Cup Inter Village football tournament 2013 organised by Verem Boys in collaboration with United Club of Nerul at Panchayat grounds, Ambekhand Verem on Monday.
Assolda began the match on an attacking note and forged ahead in the 9th minute through Sunny Fernandes who beat the onrushing Saligao Keeper Soma Korgaonkar. Stung by the reverse, Saligao got their act together and almost drew level but Assolda Keeper Johnson Fernandes affected a brilliant save off Nestor Dias.
Changing over, Rosario Fernandes doubled the lead for Assolda scoring in the 48th minute off a Succor Fernandes pass. Agneus Vaz made it 3-0 off a solo effort in the 51st minute while Sunny Fernandes made it 4-0 a few minutes later. Saligao pulled one back in the dying minutes through Trevor Dias.
