PANJIM: Hours after Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant announced to spend Rs 100 crore on local bodies, the Congress Party charged that the move is to lure the voters ahead of coming municipal elections, to be held in March.
In a press statement issued, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Amarnath Panajikar said that during the Zilla Panchayat elections, the Chief Minister had lured voters with a promise of jobs and now he is boasting of the Rs 300 crore package announced by the Central government to the State.
“The bankrupt CM has no guts to release White Paper on Financial Condition of the State. But now, wants to lure the voters of municipal areas with grants of Rs 50 lakh to Rs one crore,” he charged.
