MARGAO: The government might find itself in a tight spot as South Goa Collectorate staff on Thursday served a four-day deadline on the administration to transfer District Collector N D Agrawal or face action.
At a meeting of the employees held on the ground floor of the Collectorate after office hours, the employees threatened to launch an plan of action every day till Agrawal is transferred from the Collectorate.
Employees called for the immediate transfer of the Collector, saying that he has been threatening them with suspensions on flimsy grounds. Taking cognisance of the suspension of a senior lady employee, due for retirement in five months, the Goa Government Employees Association has now taken up cudgels for the employees.
After the meeting, Association president M L Shetkar told the media that the Association has set 3-4 day deadline on the government to transfer the Collector. “If our demand is not met within the deadline, we will hold dharna everyday at the Collectorate after office hours”, Shetkar said.
Association general secretary John Nazareth said the employees were not ready to work under Agrawal even for a day, complaining of alleged harassment and humiliation. “After our meeting with the suspended employee and other Collectorate staff, we are convinced that injustice was done to the senior employee”, he added.
The employees raised their hands in unison demanding the immediate transfer of the Collector.
