MMC re-issues demolition notices to 33 unsafe structures in Vasco

VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Council chief officer has issued notices to 32 unsafe structures from Vasco town asking the owners to demolish the buildings on their own and to fence the area for the safety of others. The action was initiated immediately after a concrete portion of one of the buildings next to Vasco police station fell on the vehicle parked near police station.
Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes informed that under Section 190 of Municipal Act 1968 notices were issued to the owners of 32 dilapidated unsafe structures which were identified by the municipality.
The notices were served in June last year asking owners to demolish unsafe structures on their own taking precautions such as fencing the area.
Also it had asked owners to vacate such structures if occupied. Fresh notices were issued in the month of November last year but nobody turned up for the final hearing of the matter in my office, the CO said. “We have taken initiative even to stick notices to the unsafe building,” he added.
