PANJIM: The students of Goa College of Architecture (GCA), Altinho-Panjim, on Wednesday suspended their protest against the college administration over non allotment of Council of Architecture (CoA) enrollment numbers.
The decision to suspend the protest was taken by the students after senior officials of the Directorate of Technical Education on Wednesday visited the college and assured them to take up the matter before the CoA head office in Delhi.
“Since they (DTE) have given us the commitment stating that they will go to the CoA office to resolve the issue, we are holding on for now and if they don’t meet the requirement then we will go to another level,” one of the affected students said.
It is pertinent to note that the students of GCA had boycotted classes for two consecutive days over the non-allotment of CoA numbers. The students have claimed that 50 odd students i.e. 20 per cent of the total students were without CoA numbers. They had stated in the absence of CoA enrollment numbers it will jeopardise their professional careers when they pass out with a Bachelor of Architecture degree, as they will not be able to apply for their architectural license without CoA enrollment number.
