Kudos to you Joel for the bold writing, you have hit the so-called freedom fighters right on the neck, and I hope they will get up from their slumber at least now and think positively and futuristically. Not only the statements are sick coming out of sick minds but they prove that the minds are grown senile, and has stopped thinking progressively. Many of the problems that Goans are facing today are because these freedom fighters. The Association has failed to perform its duties for all these decades and only content with the pension from public treasury and forgot to question the rulers in whose hands they handed over the reigns after liberation.
It appears that the association was formed only to demand increased pension at tax payers cost. They failed to raise issues when Goa was being robbed and sold to the highest bidders. They failed to demand a special status for Goa when the time was right for having lost an opportunity in the drafting of the Indian constitution and also benefit of five year plans that were completed at that time in spite of promises made by the then Indian Government .
If our rulers and the freedom fighters all this while had acted wisely then today our youth would have sufficient number of jobs in Goa and need not require the favours granted by the Portuguese in the form of a Portuguese passport to explore the west to earn a livelihood and better their living. If at all those who are raising their voices over the Nationality issue have their minds in shape they should first find out for themselves how many of the Goan progeny that have left the Goan shore in search of jobs have settled in Portugal so that Portugal can be blamed for extending the facility.
They should also demand the union government to give similar treatment to all Indians from other states who have migrated to Britain and it colonies for jobs and for business after independence but also enjoy Indian citizenship till date in spite of all the all the atrocities Indians suffered during the British rule.
