PORVORIM: Around 80 locals and activists confronted the officials of Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) over the Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP), on Wednesday.
The protestors demanded the postponement of the public hearing on CZMP scheduled on July 7 at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. They demanded that a fresh date be given after correcting the errors and after the GCZMA explains the plans to the public.
Later, a delegation of 15 people met GCZMA Member Secretary Ravi Jha and submitted a memorandum highlighting that “a public hearing can only be held on a document which is scientifically and legally correct.”
“The HTL drawn, for example, is not in accordance with the CRZ notification. There are just too many errors. This is unacceptable for job work which cost upwards of Rs 2 crore of public money,” the memorandum reads as.
The delegation reportedly told Jha that the CZMA plans of 27.9.1996 are not available for analysis and comparison for effective planning.
