State Nationalist Youth Congress, in association with NRB-Kaleidoscope, launched, what it claims, a unique social campaign titled ‘Stand Firm’ to impress upon the youth brigade to fight against various social evils.
Though the campaign was officially launched on Friday, it will start in the right-earnest in March across all colleges and cover topics like drugs, ragging, garbage problem, conservation of water, anti-plastic propaganda, AIDS/HIV, traffic menace, corruption, dowry, etc.
President of NYC, which is the youth wing of the Nationalist Congress Party, Tanveer Khatib, said everyone talks about these evils, but no one had gone deeper to bring about a real change. We plan to handle these issues in a very innovative manner and involve village people in it, he stated.
Khatib observed, “Looking at the way things are presently in the State we have decided to something about them. Taking the problem of drugs we plan to create awareness in the coastal belt and may organise road shows, open forums and other forms of discussions.”
Kunal Sagarkar of Kaleidoscope, who is also NYC Vice President (Media), said ideally each college would be given charge of one social issue in an effort to bring the youth more involved so that they come out with ways to address the same.
State NCP President Surendra Sirsat and Goa Coordinator Dr Prafula Hede
congratulated the youth wing for taking up the social campaign.
