MAPUSA: There was a major breakdown to the water pipeline at Tivim, on Tuesday with supply to Aldona, parts of Mapusa, Saligao, Calangute and Siolim affected.
PWD Chief Engineer Santosh Mhapne stated, “The 700mm dia pipeline, coming from Assanora plant to Bardez, was old. The incident occurred at around 4.30pm. During daytime, the work was affected due to traffic hence the PWD workers were put on the job at night but could not complete the work.”

Assistant Engineer Truptesh Sirsat informed O Heraldo that, “The work was completed by 12 noon on Wednesday, but it takes time to restore the supply since the water has to be released slowly. There will be restricted water supply on Wednesday and Thursday since water pressure has to be developed.” “Only then will water supply to all areas will be restored,” he said.
