CALANGUTE: Pooja Matkar was elected unopposed as the new Deputy Sarpanch of Calangute panchayat in a special meeting held at the panchayat office on Thursday.
The said post was lying vacant after the former deputy sarpanch, Sudesh Mayekar, tendered his resignation.
Matkar’s was the only one nomination received by the Returning Officer, Manohar Parwar in the 11-member panchayat.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Matkar said that she would continue the work that needs to be undertaken in the village and follow up on the major issues of top priority pertaining to electricity, footpaths, water and drains.
