PANJIM: Sporting Clube de Goa recorded a 5-0 win over Young Boys of Tonca (YBT) in the Goa Professional League match played at Ella ground, Old Goa, on Saturday.
The Flaming Oranje now moved level on points with Dempo SC with 27 points from 14 matches. Meanwhile, YBT stayed on two points from 14 games.

Sporting Clube wasted no time in peppering the YBT goal, with Rodrigues and Martins testing the keeper early. The deadlock was finally broken in the 38th minute, Darjee coolly converting from the penalty spot, sending chills down the Young Boys of Tonca spines.
The second half witnessed Sporting Clube’s dominance reach another level. Costa’s intelligent assist put Gauncar through, who squared back for Ivon to nonchalantly flick past the hapless YBT keeper, doubling the lead after 50 minutes.
YBT had a rare chance, but Mollah squandered it from a close range. Sporting Clube kept the pressure on, with Biswa completing his brace via a towering header in the 75th minute, sending fans into raptures. Gauncar and Martins joined the party late on, ensuring Sporting Clube ended the match with a five-star performance.
At Sirsaim ground, Panjim Footballers looked headed for victory after a comical own goal gave them the lead early on. However, Geno SC refused to surrender, snatching a point through Jachi’s dramatic stoppage-time equaliser.
Geno SC started brightly carving open the Panjim defence, but the tide turned three minutes later. Raj’s shot deflected off Geno SC captain Kunkolkar, squirming past Gupta for a bizarre own goal. Undeterred, Geno SC bombarded the Panjim goal, but Kuldeep’s free-kicks rattled the crossbar and Gupta acrobatically denied Colaco’s long-range effort.
The second half mirrored the first, with Geno SC dictating the tempo but struggling to breach Panjim’s defence. Just as Panjim seemed destined for victory, Jachi intervened. His outside-the-box shot deflected off a Panjim defender, spinning past Sharma and nestling into the net in the dying seconds. The draw keeps Geno SC mid-table, while Panjim Footballers remain just above the relegation zone.
