PANJIM: After Sadbuddhi Yatra, the opposition Congress on Friday announced that it will hold Bhumiputra Yatra at Sankhali on Sunday (August 29).
Sankhali constituency is represented by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
GPCC president Girish Chodankar said that the party will hold Bhumiputra Yatra in Sankhali constituency at 3.30 pm on Sunday. The yatra will start from Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali and culminate at the bus stand.
Besides himself, Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat, MP, party MLAs, office-bearers and workers will participate in the yatra.
Chodankar said that the party has applied to the Bicholim deputy collector and sub-divisional office (SDO) for permission to use a vehicle mounted with public address system.
On August 1, the Sankhali Block Congress Committee had organised Sadhbuddhi (good sense) Yatra but it faced stiff opposition by the Bharatiya Janata Partry (BJP) workers.
The Sadbudhi yatra was organised by the Congress party to request Chief Minister to act in responsible manner and understand that providing safety and security to the citizens is not only his responsibility but his prime duty.
Now, Cong to hold Bhumiputra Yatra at Sankhali on Sunday
