PANAJI: Amidst fears of adulterated milk being supplied in Goa from across the border, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has maintained that the milk supply in the State is unadulterated.
After several raids in Belgaum district during the last few days, there were fears about the quality of milk supplied to Goa. However, FDA said that the milk supplied in the state is one of the best quality products in the country and people should not panic.
FDA Director, Salim Veljee said, “We conduct surprise inspections and tested the quality of milk at least on 4 to 5 occasions a year. These inspections are carried out across brands. The milk supplied in Goa is of good quality.”
Goa’s milk consumption is estimated at around 2 lakh litres daily. While Goa Dairy provides around 40 percent of the requirement, the rest of the milk in the State is supplied through various brands from the neighbouring states.
