MARGAO: Tiatrist Tousif de Navelim has filed a complaint against one Jabir and a panch of Davorlim Panchayat for threatening him and his family of dire consequences if
he stages his new tiatr “Akantwadi 2”.
According to Tousif at around 4 pm the accused approached him and threatened him with dire consequences and even assault if he stages the tiatr. Tousif informed Herald that a group of 12 men had come to his house in the afternoon and again caught up with
him at 4 pm.
Tousif de Navelim is set to stage the sequel of the famous tiatr “Akantwadi” which had created a stir amongst some Hindu organisations in Goa earlier. It is learnt from sources that Tousif has this time included Muslims as the focal point of his tiatr.
Tousif said that a group of men which he suspects are attached to the organisation Popular Front of India threatened him as he has exposed their wrongdoings in his tiatr “Akantwadi 2”. Tousif also alleged that a Police Sub Inspector attached to Margao Town Police Station refused to register his complaint, and after pressure from some journalists the complaint was noted down.
Popular Front of India Goa Chapter President Shaikh Abdul Rauf has denied any involvement of his organisation or members in threatening Tousif.
Rauf said, “Our men had gone to his house to show him the work the front does and request him not to defame the organisation by the means of a tiatr.”
He said that if Tousif goes ahead and continues to defame the front, then the legal cell of the organisation will take action against him.
Police have requested Tousif to approach the proper court of law as per Section 155 of CrPC as the nature of complaint is non-cognizable.
