PANJIM: GFA president Churchill Alemao on Saturday felicitated one of the Goa’s legendary footballers Menino Fegueiredo on his 85th birthday at his residence.
Menino was also the first Goan footballer to represent the country after Goan origin players from Bombay, now Mumbai such as Neville D’Souza (1953), Joe Dsa (1954), Fortunato Franco and Derik D’Souza (both 1960) when in 1963 India played against Russia.

Menino started his career aged 17 for MCC and was part of the Goa Selection team against Benfica from Portugal and Karachi Port Trust side at the Panjim police ground in 1959.
“We are proud of whatever he has achieved and for making our State proud. On his 85th birthday we wish Menino great health and blessed life with lots of respect and love,” stated Churchill Alemao.
Menino also captained Goa’s first ever Santosh Trophy team.
“Our past heroes have made our State proud and they should be remembered and honoured,” stated Churchill.
