BICHOLIM: Agriculture Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar on Thursday visited the flood-affected farmers from Sal in Bicholim and assured to resolve their pending issues including delayed compensation.

The minister along with the Assembly Speaker Rajesh Patnekar visited Sal and discussed the issues of the farmers. They were accompanied by officials from the Agriculture Department.
“We visited the Sal as there were several issues pending since last year including that of compensation to be given to the farmers,” Kavlekar informed.
During the discussion, the farmers apprised the minister of various issues faced by them including the delay in compensation for the losses they incurred last year due to floods.
Some farmers complained that they did not receive any compensation.
The farmers said there were some issues wherein the department had released the money, but the same did not reflect in their accounts.
They complained that the wild animals destroyed their fields and during monsoon, they suffered losses due to the release of Tillari Dam water.
The minister lent a patient ear to their issues and assured to address them on priority basis.
It may be recalled that just like last year the farmers from Sal in Bicholim suffered losses due to floods.
