MARGAO: A company which bagged the contract to asphalt the road from Rawanfond to Khareband is carrying out shoddy work as the portions dug out for sewerage connections are asphalted without properly filling the dugout portion.
Near Khareband opposite Simba Hotel and the junction leading to Sarvodem somebody dug up the road without taking anybody’s permission to connect to the sewerage system and the road was not restored to its normal condition.
When the company started the work of asphalting the dugout portions were an ugly sites as boulders and mud was heaped around. However, the labourers cleaned the place, removed the mud and boulders and then the road was asphalted.
However, as no proper soling was done, the road is expected to cave in at theis portion within a few days due to heavy vehicles plying in the area. Local councillor Doris Texeira who was present when the asphalting was undertaken blamed the people who took the sewerage connection without informing anybody about the road digging.
The AE supervising the work insisted that soling was done of the dugout portion and assured that the road will not cave.
